Legacy crush G2 to conquer Suzhou: a third title in China and a dream season

Some teams pull off one upset; others build a season. Legacy increasingly belong to the second group. The Brazilians swept G2 3-0 in the FISSURE Playground 3 grand final at the SND Cultural & Sports Centre in Suzhou, taking $300,000 from the million-dollar pool.

The maps: Ancient 13-9, Mirage 13-10, and Dust2 13-4. A fifth was never needed.

China, their territory

The detail that elevates this win beyond a good weekend is where it happened. It's Legacy's third trophy on Chinese soil, after winning the CS Asia Championship in both 2025 and 2026.

Three titles in the same country in two years stops being coincidence and starts looking like a special relationship. Whether it's the playstyle, how the schedules suit them, or simply accumulated confidence, Legacy have become a problem for anyone traveling to Asia.

The final: control from the first map

Ancient, Legacy's pick, was paradoxically where G2 looked best. The Brazilians opened 5-2 after winning a force buy, but G2 responded with five consecutive rounds to flip it and lead at the switch. The Europeans also took both pistols, but that was the extent of their margin: latto posted 23 kills and Legacy's CT side closed the map 13-9.

On Mirage, G2's first pick, the script was similar but more emphatic. latto and try dismantled the Europeans to a 9-3 CT lead, and Legacy reached double digits after winning the T pistol. G2 tried — huNter- landed an ace in the seventeenth round — but the comeback fell short: 13-10.

Dust2 was outright one-way traffic. 13-4 and the trophy.

G2, punished by their own road

On the other side, the feeling is bittersweet. G2 reached the final via one of the toughest routes in recent memory: they opened with a 1-2 loss to Astralis and from there strung together four consecutive do-or-die elimination series — BIG, 9z, 5star, and FURIA — before coming back in the semi-finals against a BetBoom side that arrived unbeaten without dropping a single map, with NertZ posting 58 kills in that series.

It was G2 who eliminated FURIA in the quarters, with a crushing 13-3 on Dust2 — the Brazilians' own pick, where no FURIA player reached double digits — placing another obstacle in FalleN's farewell.

But arriving that way carries a cost. After five elimination series, the tank was empty.

What this title confirms

For Legacy, the trophy closes an arc we've been following since the summer. At the Esports World Cup in Paris they were the story of the tournament: they eliminated NAVI 2-0 and then Major champions Falcons 2-0, with NiKo admitting he couldn't remember the last time they'd been destroyed like that. They finished third.

Then came a stumble at BLAST Open Porto, where they didn't clear the group stage. And now, this.

The lineup of arT, latto, dumau, n1ssim, and try is no longer a pleasant surprise: it's a team that wins international tournaments. And with the Singapore Major on the November horizon, the VRS points they bank here count double.

Whether they can repeat it outside China remains to be seen. But for now, anyone who sees them in an Asian tournament draw would do well to worry.
