HEROIC rebuild: doto takes over as coach, with Spaniard MartinezSa in their sights
TOBIZ out, doto in
The 30-year-old Finn and former ENCE player takes the bench in place of Dane TOBIZ, whose one-year tenure comes to an end. TOBIZ himself explained on X that the club informed him it wanted to go in a new direction. HEROIC had been his first big opportunity as a top-level coach after his time with MOUZ NXT, and during his year in charge the team won DraculaN Season 5, finished runners-up at the CCT Global Finals, and qualified for the Cologne Major, where they fell in the opening stage.
MartinezSa, the Spanish angle
The other leg of the rebuild targets the AWPer position, the team's biggest hole. HEROIC have been unable to field their starting sniper, Alimzhan "Alkaren" Bitimbay, since the start of the year due to visa issues, and Sweden's yxngstxr has been covering the role as a makeshift solution.
According to HLTV's sources, the chosen fix is 25-year-old MartinezSa, Gentle Mates' star. The timing is no accident: the French organization has announced its exit from Counter-Strike and offered its roster to clubs like Heretics and KOI, putting its AWPer in the shop window. In fact, the Spaniard was in FaZe's orbit before the American organization opted for JBOEN on loan.
There's also a neat nod for Spanish fans: if the deal goes through, MartinezSa would become HEROIC's first permanent AWPer since fellow Spaniard SunPayus, who left the club for G2 in 2025. The role would return to Spanish hands.
It's worth stressing that, unlike doto's signing (official), the MartinezSa move remains an ongoing negotiation per sources: there's no announcement from the club. The new project's first test comes soon, with HEROIC set to play the Stake Ranked Episode 3 in Barcelona in just over a week.
